Deer season for bow hunters just opened and the forests all around Arizona are full of hunters in their hunt camps or nearby mom-and-pop motels. Nowhere's downtown motel is no exception. But if you are a hunter, a tourist or even a local, you've got to be scratching your noggin today. Seems Tom and Ginny can't make up their mind as to whether their motel is Open or Closed. And, whether it has Vacancy or No Vacancy. I didn't have the heart to tell them about their sign until after I grabbed this shot. Then again, I decided who was I to tell them how to run their business. Maybe they planned it this way. Anyway, happy hunting hunters. I hope you find your prize deer somewhere near Nowhere.
My sons are out hunting, so Life Is Good.

Whether It's The Weather...
When visitors describe Nowhere as a backwards town, they don’t know how right they are! In most parts of these United States, it is the season of winter which offers up the harshest weather. It’s backwards here in Nowhere, Arizona. The oppressive summer heat keeps most residents indoors or outta town from June through August. I dislike the month of August. Always have since I moved here from Iowa 30+ years ago. Maybe it's because most everyone else has abandoned Nowhere for places like San Diego or Flagstaff. My sons Ryan and Cameron are in Iowa right now. They're enjoying sweet corn on a daily basis while I'll be trying to force down some of my own fried green tomatoes. It's just that these fried tomatoes weren't going to be fried. They fell out of my arms this morning while picking them and instantly fried on the sidewalk outside my house. Then again, maybe it's not the weather. Who am I kidding? It IS the weather. In spite of the dog days of summer,
Life Is Good. But to damn toasty.

A Butter Cow and Fried Snickers
The cow never leaves it's home. If it did, it would surely pass away quickly. And if that cow resided in my state of Arizona, it would melt quicker than the witch in The Wizard Of Oz. While I melt here in the desert inferno this August, my photo business partners are photographing The Butter Cow at the Iowa State Fair today. Ryan and Cameron are photographing many of the farm animals at this spectacular event for our stock photo agency in London. Every year since time began, the Butter Cow has been THE thing to see at the fair. This life-sized bovine is completely carved from butter. It wouldn't stand a chance here in Arizona. And,Ryan and Cameron report the best food on a stick is the fried Snickers bar. Huh? Butter and fried chocolate-what a way to go! With a Google search, you can see the Butter Cow in all it's caloric splendor.
Life Is Good If Your Cow Doesn't Melt.
